Highlights from the UN Summer Academy 2019
During the last week of August, the United Nations Summer Academy took place for the fourth time in Bonn. Organised by the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), the Academy offered five intense days of learning and knowledge-building around the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s theme, ‘The 2030 Agenda: Taking Stock and Looking Ahead’, focused on reviewing the current progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda, discussing opportunities to accelerate it, as well as proposing ways to tackle persisting challenges.
UNESCO-UNEVOC organizes Guided Self-Assessment Workshops in 10 countries

A major global challenge today is the ability to take appropriate decisions to navigate countries and communities to a secure, sustainable future. Whether or not policymakers and practitioners can make decisions that help society adapt to climate risks and capture the opportunities ahead plays a central role in uncertainty about future risk trends. Data assessments of future demographic change need to inform their decisions, as they have a significant impact on future trajectories and patterns of exposure and vulnerability to climate change hazards.
UNSSC and IE University will Launch a New Master's program with a Focus on Sustainable Development This Friday
The United Nations System Staff College and the Instituto de Empresa University have partnered with each other to launch an innovative Master's program focusing on sustainable development. The one-year program will provide key skills and competencies for the next generation of leaders and policy makers to address the complex challenges highlighted by the 2030 Agenda.
UNESCO-UNEVOC Announces the Launch of its Skills for Innovation Hubs Project
As Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) adapts itself to the impacts of significant social, environmental and economic disruptions, innovative practices have emerged with great potential to rejuvenate the future of TVET. Current developments in TVET suggest that many types of innovative practices are already being developed or deployed, significantly changing the way we define and practice TVET.
Promoting Gender Equality in STEM-related TVET
On 21 to 22 March, UNESCO-UNEVOC was hosting an experts’ workshop in Bonn, Germany on gender equality in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related fields in Technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The workshop sought to better understand the root causes of gender disparities in STEM-related TVET through discussions with experts from ten UNEVOC Centers across the globe.
