Multi-agency report highlights increasing signs and impacts of climate change in atmosphere, land and oceans

The tell-tale physical signs of climate change such as increasing land and ocean heat, accelerating sea level rise and melting ice are highlighted in a new report compiled by the World Meteorological Organization and an extensive network of partners, including UNDRR, UNEP and WHO.

Review of progress on Sendai targets

Participants from 35 countries met in Bonn to review the progress to date on the implementation and use of the Sendai Framework Monitor which allows countries to report on the achievements of the seven targets of the Sendai Framework, the global plan to reduce disaster losses by 2030. The Sendai Framework was adopted in Japan in 2015.

UNDRR: Time is Running Out for a World at Risk

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction opened in Geneva today with the focus on raising levels of ambition when it comes to reducing disaster risk in a world where vulnerability and exposure is dramatically on the rise.

Four years after the adoption of the Sendai Framework – the global plan to reduce disaster losses - 116 UN Member States are reporting against the seven targets including those for reducing mortality, reducing the numbers of people affected, economic losses and damage to critical infrastructure.
